What are mining tires?

Mining tires are tires specially designed for various heavy machinery vehicles operating in the harsh environment of mines. These vehicles include but are not limited to mining trucks, loaders, bulldozers, graders, scrapers, etc. Compared with ordinary engineering machinery tires, mining tires need to have stronger load-bearing capacity, cut resistance, wear resistance and puncture resistance to cope with the complex, rugged, stone-rich and potentially sharp road surfaces in mines.

Main features of mining tires:

Super strong load-bearing capacity: Mining vehicles usually carry huge loads, so mining tires must be able to withstand extremely high loads.

Excellent cut and puncture resistance: Sharp rocks and gravel on mine roads can easily cut and puncture tires, so mining tires use a special rubber formula and multi-layer cord structure to improve the ability to resist these damages.

Excellent wear resistance: The mining operating environment is harsh and tires are severely worn, so the tread rubber of mining tires has higher wear resistance to extend the service life.

Good traction and grip: Rough and uneven mining roads require tires to provide strong traction and grip to ensure vehicle driving and operating efficiency. The tread pattern is usually designed to be deeper and thicker to enhance grip and self-cleaning capabilities.

High strength and durability: Mining tires need to be able to work under harsh conditions for a long time, so their carcass structure needs to be very strong and durable.

Good heat dissipation: Heavy loads and long-term operation will cause the tire to generate high temperatures, and excessive temperatures will reduce the performance and life of the tire. Therefore, mining tires are designed with heat dissipation in mind.

Optimization for specific mining conditions: Different types of mines (such as open-pit mines, underground mines) and different operating needs have different performance requirements for tires, so there are mining tires optimized for specific mining conditions.

Mining tires can be divided into the following three types according to their structure :

Bias Ply Tires: The carcass cords are arranged crosswise at a certain angle. The structure is relatively simple and the carcass rigidity is good, but the heat dissipation is poor and the high-speed performance is not as good as that of radial tires.

Radial Tires: The carcass cords are arranged at 90 degrees or close to 90 degrees to the direction of travel of the tire, and the belt layer is used to improve strength. Radial tires have better handling stability, wear resistance, heat dissipation and fuel economy. At present, most mining dump truck tires are radial tires.

Solid Tires: The tire body is solid and does not require inflation. It has extremely high puncture resistance, but poor elasticity. It is suitable for mining areas with low speed, heavy load and flat road surface.

In summary, mining tires are a very important branch of engineering machinery tires. They are designed and manufactured to meet the special needs of extreme mining operating environments and are key components to ensure efficient and safe operation of mining equipment.

In harsh working environments such as mines, mining tires need to be used in conjunction with mining rims that can withstand huge loads and harsh conditions to ensure the safe and efficient operation of vehicles.

Mining rims can be divided into one-piece rims, multi – piece rims and flange rims according to their structure and installation method .

One-piece rim : simple structure, high strength, suitable for some small and medium-sized mining vehicles.

Multi-piece rims are usually composed of multiple parts such as rim base, lock ring, retaining ring, etc., and are suitable for large mining trucks and loaders, etc. This design facilitates the installation and removal of tires and can withstand higher loads.

Flange rim : The rim is connected to the hub through flanges and bolts, providing a more reliable connection and higher load-bearing capacity, commonly found in large mining vehicles.

These rims can work in harsh environments such as mines, with the following advantages :

1. High strength and load-bearing capacity: Mining rims are made of high-strength steel and are specially designed and reinforced to withstand the huge loads transmitted by mining tires.

2. Durability: Impact, extrusion and corrosion in the mining environment place extremely high demands on the durability of the rim. Mining rims usually have thicker materials and special surface treatments to resist these factors.

3. Accurate size and fit: The size and shape of the rim must accurately match the mining tire to ensure correct installation and uniform force of the tire, and avoid problems such as tire sliding and debonding.

4. Reliable locking mechanism (for certain types of rims): Some mining rims, especially those used for large mining trucks, may use special locking mechanisms (such as flange mounting or multi-piece rims) to ensure a secure connection of the tire under extreme working conditions.

5. Heat dissipation considerations: Similar to mining tires, the design of the rims will also take heat dissipation into consideration to help dissipate the heat generated by braking and tires.

We not only produce mining vehicle rims, but also have a wide range of industrial rims, forklift rims, construction machinery rims, agricultural rims and other rim accessories and tires . We are the original rim supplier in China for Volvo, Caterpillar, Liebherr, John Deere, Huddig and other well-known brands.
