What does OTR tire mean?

OTR is the abbreviation of Off-The-Road, which means "off-road" or "off-highway" application. OTR tires and equipment are specially designed for environments that are not driven on ordinary roads, including mines, quarries, construction sites, forest operations, etc. These environments usually have uneven, soft or rugged terrain, so specially designed tires and vehicles are needed to cope with them.
The main application areas of OTR tires include:
1. Mines and quarries:
Use large mining trucks, loaders, excavators, etc. to mine and transport minerals and rocks.
2. Construction and infrastructure:
Including bulldozers, scrapers, rollers and other equipment for earthwork and infrastructure construction at construction sites.

OTR rims (Off-The-Road Rim) refer to rims (wheels) specially designed for OTR tires to support and fix tires and provide necessary structural support for heavy equipment for off-road use. OTR rims are widely used on mining equipment, construction machinery, agricultural machinery and other large industrial vehicles. These rims must have sufficient strength and durability to cope with harsh working environments and heavy load conditions.

In general, OTR involves a variety of specialized equipment and tires designed to improve operating efficiency and safety in harsh, off-road conditions. These tires are designed specifically for harsh working environments and provide excellent durability and performance.

What is the working principle of a mining dump truck?

The working principle of a mining dump truck mainly involves the synergy of the vehicle power system, transmission system, braking system and hydraulic system, which is used to transport and dump large amounts of materials (such as ore, coal, sand and gravel, etc.) in mines, quarries and large earthmoving projects. The following are the key parts of how a mining dump truck works:

1. Power system:

Engine: Mining dump trucks are usually equipped with a high-power diesel engine, which provides the main power source of the vehicle. The engine converts the heat energy generated by burning diesel into mechanical energy and drives the vehicle's transmission system through the crankshaft.

2. Transmission system:

Gearbox (transmission): The gearbox transmits the power output of the engine to the axle through the gear set, adjusting the relationship between the engine speed and the vehicle speed. Mining dump trucks are usually equipped with automatic or semi-automatic transmissions to adapt to different speed and load conditions.

Drive shaft and differential: The drive shaft transmits power from the gearbox to the rear axle, and the differential on the rear axle distributes power to the rear wheels to ensure that the left and right wheels can rotate independently when turning or on uneven ground.

3. Suspension system:

Suspension device: Mining dump trucks usually use hydraulic suspension systems or pneumatic suspension systems, which can effectively absorb the impact during driving, improve the driving stability of the vehicle on uneven terrain and the comfort of the operator.

4. Braking system:

Service brake and emergency brake: Mining dump trucks are equipped with powerful braking systems, including hydraulic brakes or pneumatic brakes, and oil-cooled multi-disc brakes to provide reliable braking force. 5. Steering system:

Hydraulic steering system: Mining dump trucks usually use hydraulic power steering systems, which are powered by hydraulic pumps and steering cylinders control the steering of the front wheels. The hydraulic steering system can maintain smooth and light steering performance when the vehicle is heavily loaded.

6. Hydraulic system:

Lifting system: The cargo box of the mining dump truck is lifted by a hydraulic cylinder to achieve dumping operation. The hydraulic pump provides high-pressure hydraulic oil to push the hydraulic cylinder to lift the cargo box to a certain angle, so that the loaded materials can slide out of the cargo box under the action of gravity.

7. Driving control system:

Human-machine interface (HMI): The cab is equipped with various operating and monitoring devices, such as steering wheel, accelerator pedal, brake pedal, gear lever and dashboard. Modern mining dump trucks also integrate digital control systems and display screens to facilitate operators to monitor vehicle status in real time (such as engine temperature, oil pressure, hydraulic system pressure, etc.).

8. Working process:

Normal driving stage:

1. Starting the engine: The operator starts the engine and transmits power to the wheels through the transmission system to start driving.

2. Driving and steering: The operator controls the steering system through the steering wheel to adjust the speed and direction of the vehicle so that the vehicle moves to the loading point within the mine area or construction site.

Loading and transportation stage:

3. Loading materials: Usually, excavators, loaders or other loading equipment load materials (such as ore, earthwork, etc.) into the cargo box of the mining dump truck.

4. Transportation: After the dump truck is fully loaded with materials, the driver controls the vehicle to the unloading site. During transportation, the vehicle uses its suspension system and large-size tires to absorb the instability of the ground to ensure stable driving.

Unloading stage:

 

5. Arrival at the unloading point: After reaching the unloading position, the operator switches to neutral or parking mode.

 

6. Lifting the cargo box: The operator starts the hydraulic system and operates the hydraulic control lever, and the hydraulic cylinder pushes the cargo box to a certain angle.

7. Dumping materials: The materials automatically slide out of the cargo box under the action of gravity, completing the unloading process.

Return to the loading point:
